Hugh Turvey, initially trained as a designer and art director, found his passion in photography and studied under renowned photographer Gered Mankowitz. In 1996/1997, he began exploring x-ray and shadow photography techniques, inspired by a request for an 'alternative revealing' image for an album cover. Encouraged by the Science Photo Library, Turvey created a vast series of colored x-rays of everyday objects, debuting in The Observer Magazine, Life, UK on April 4, 1999. That same year, Credit Suisse recognized his unique 'x-ray vision' and commissioned six innovative 'motion x-ray' European TV commercials.
