Mandolin Ebony Bridge Pickup Sensor in Bridge Base for Warmer Sound Fits All Archtop Mandolins Replaces Existing Bridge Includes Prewired Carpenter Jack The Fishman M-300 Archtop Mandolin Nashville Series pickup features a piezo-ceramic pickup element embedded in the base of the bridge, and an adjustable ebony replacement bridge saddle. The Fishman M-300 is designed for all archtop-style mandolins, and includes a high quality 1/4" Carpenter output jack that clamps onto the side of the instrument. The M-300 provides a warmer, richer sound than the Fishman M-200 pickup due to the quality of the sensor and its position in the base of the bridge, rather than the saddle. By comparison, the M-200 sensor in the saddle reproduces more string sound (including noise and squeeks) and less body resonance, while the M-300 includes more body resonance for a woodier, more acoustic sound overall, providing more depth and realism without sacrificing string definition. In addition, since the sensor is in the base of the bridge you can continue to use your existing saddle, keeping any customizations you may have made to the saddle. You can even use different saddles (not included) for different types of playing for maximum flexibility. The M-300 provides accurate reproduction of your instrument's unique acoustic sound, providing consistent sound for every performance. This is a passive pickup system that will work with most amplifiers. If you are plugging into a mixer board or PA system, you may need to use a preamp with this pickup. An impedance matching preamp is recommended, but not required. Adding a preamp to this pickup will help realize the full frequency response potential of the pickup and allow for cable runs longer than 10 feet without signal deterioration. Use a high quality, low capacitance 1/4 inch shielded instrument cable. This will ensure minimal tone coloration and hum. Professional installation recommended.
