The core design of the St. Michael Combat Chaplet follows the same as that of the original Combat Rosary custom designed, in that it is based on the 1916 WWI US Government military issue pull chain service rosary. He told Antonia to honor him by nine salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels. St. Michael promised that whoever would practice this devotion in his honor would have, when approaching Holy Communion, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs.
